Homecoming Larry Dance 2017

The much anticipated Larry Dance was again a crowd favorite of homecoming.  The Larrys with their Lariette danced to the theme song from "Blazing Saddles".

Lariettes Debut "2nd Look"  during Homecoming Halftime

The Lariettes took the field at homecoming escorted by their Larrys for the Traditional Larry Dance at halftime.  The performance also debuted the new “2nd Look” uniform that features a fully sequined red jacket and black skirt.  A neck scarf and white leather belt finishes the look along with the traditional white hat and boots. The uniform has been dubbed the "2nd Look" because the "FRINGE" will continue to be the primary uniform for the Lariettes.   The "2nd Look" offers a new option for the team to use during designated performances and events.  “Over the years, I have found that the white fringe, while iconic to the Lariette image, does not always perform well,” Julie Stralow, Director of the Lariettes, explained.  “Precision is a high priority in drill team and having part of the uniform swinging endlessly throughout a performance overpowers the team’s work.”  The new look also brings continuity between the Silver Stars JV Drill Team and the Lariettes as the skirt, belt, and scarf come straight from the JV field uniform.  Stralow added, “when designing the new uniform, we wanted to use items that most of the girls already owned so we changed the color of the JV skirt to black 3 years ago in preparation.  Now when Silver Stars become Lariettes they still purchase their custom fringe uniform, and they already have the pieces they need for the 2nd uniform - I just issue them a jacket!”

The Lariettes are excited about the new look.  "Though I love the fringe, I am very excited about having some sparkle on the field.  The sequined jacket provides that," says senior Lariette, Rebecca Carroll.  "It's great to be part of a first in Lariette history," she added.

The "FRINGE" made its debut in the 1990 football season.  For 27 years, the "FRINGE" has been the identifying symbol for the Lariettes and will continue to be the iconic look for the team.  Whether it is "SPARKLE"  or "FRINGE"  the Lariettes will continue to provide outstanding performances for the Cowboys halftime. entertainment.
